Q. Who are you and what makes you different to other tour companies?

We are a friendly motorcycle holiday (or tour) company who provide fully guided tours. We are led by strong customer service values and our mission is to provide the best touring holidays possible. Our difference is in the detail….it’s all about your holiday, so we don’t expect you to find your own way to the hotel, direct or guide others at junctions, or catch up with the guide! Our job, our passion and our pleasure is to ensure you have a great holiday.

Q. How can we believe you’re as good as you say you are?

Don’t just take our word for it…check out our customer views or on our Facebook page.

Q. Do I pay in full at the time of booking?

No, absolutely not. It’s your hard earned money and you should hang on to it not us. We take a £100 deposit per person at the time of booking to reserve your place and then invoice you for the remaining balance 90 days before your tour starts. We’re also happy to arrange a payment plan if this helps you to spread the cost.

Q. What’s the difference between ‘escorted’ and ‘guided’ tours?

Escorted tours mean you may not be following the guide all the time, may have to find your own way to your hotel and are likely to be involved in the ‘drop off marker system’ (see below). Guided means that the group will ride together, no-one will get left behind, you won’t be expected to direct or lead anyone else and you’ll ride with an experienced guide….all Biker Spirit tours are fully guided.
__________________________________________
Q. Do you use the ‘drop off marker system’?

No, absolutely not. This is your holiday and we do not expect you to find your own way or take responsibility for others. We provide fully guided tours….you just follow, relax and enjoy the ride.
__________________________________________
Q. What’s included in the tour?

Each tour itinerary will tell you exactly what’s included, but generally our tours include all ferry costs from the UK, accommodation, breakfasts and our full guiding services. Some may also include evening meals.
_________________________________________
Q. Where do you meet up for each tour?

Each tour has a defined start point, where we all meet and get to know each other (usually the night before the tour starts). If you are interested in riding with us to the start point or getting some ideas of a good route, then give us a call and we’ll sort something out for you.

Q. I’m travelling from overseas, can you organise the ferry crossing for me?

Yes and we’re likely to get a better deal for you too! Currently we work with Brittany Ferries, Stena Line and Steam Packet, but are happy to act on your behalf with other companies and arrange agency rates.
__________________________________________
Q. Can you meet me at the port and provide additional tour days?

Yes we can and this is a popular service for many of our overseas customers. We can tailor the additional days to meet your needs, taking in some stunning roads en-route to the tour start point and on the return to your ferry, and will arrange the additional accommodation needed. Contact us to talk through your needs.

Q. What kinds of bikes are best for your tours?

Generally any bike that is comfortable and can take luggage. We’ve had all types of bikes on tour with us….from 125s to 1300s….sportsbikes to cruisers….and we welcome bikers from all walks of life :-)
__________________________________________
Q. Can I hire a bike from you?

Yes. We work with different bike hire companies and can get very competitive hire rates for you. This can include insurance, luggage and any extras you need.
__________________________________________
Q. What age / make up are your customers?

It varies, but generally they are 25+ and are looking for a relaxed biking holiday. We get a mix of singles, couples and friends on each tour….don’t worry, we work hard to ‘break the ice’ and our group members soon become friends. It’s important to us that everyone has a good time.
__________________________________________
Q. I’m a pillion, am I going to have a good time too?

Absolutely! We want rider and pillion to have a great holiday, so as well as fantastic roads we make sure there are plenty of breaks, stops and sightseeing opportunities. On our longer tours we also have two night stops in the same location, so if the pillion (or the rider) want a ‘day off bike’ they can do so and we’ll gladly point you in the direction of cafes, bar and tourist attractions.

Q. What distances do we cover and how long do we ride?

We average around 150 miles / 241 kms per day, but some days will be slightly less and some a little more. A 200 mile / 322 km day is generally the furthest we’ll cover. We usually leave in the morning around 9.30am and aim to be at our next hotel by 6pm at the latest….this is about a relaxing holiday, with lots of stops and sightseeing opportunities… there’s no need to rush.
__________________________________________
Q. What speeds do we ride at?

Quite simply, the legal ones. We also ride at a pace to suit the group…should you wish to be more ‘progressive’ we are happy to meet you further along the route.
__________________________________________
Q. Do we all ride as a group?

Yes, but we may split into two groups. It’s important that everyone enjoys their holiday and sometimes we find people like to ride at a different pace. This isn’t a problem – our group sizes are small enough to allow us to split the group, but for each group to keep a guide. So, if you want to ride a bit quicker you can, or if you want to maintain a steady pace you can. And, of course, if you want to head off on your own for a while, that’s fine too….it’s all about your holiday.
_________________________________________
Q. How many will be in a group?

We operate a ‘4 bikes to 1 guide’ ratio and generally close a tour with 8 bikes. We find small groups make for a more fun, friendly, safe and memorable holiday. We do however run larger groups for clubs and friends.
__________________________________________
Q. I’m new to touring and group riding, will this be a problem?

No, we all have to start somewhere and touring with experienced guides is a great place to start! We brief the group each morning, provide hints and tips about safe and fun group riding and have plenty of stops to chat about the ride. We’ll look after you, whatever your touring experience.
__________________________________________
Q. I’ve never taken my bike onto a ferry before, what can I expect?

Don’t worry, we’ll be there to help you. The thought is worse than the reality, but our briefing and support will put you at ease. We have some simple steps to ensure you and your bike get on and off the ferry safely.
__________________________________________
Q. What type of accommodation do you use?

The best type. All of our accommodation is of a high standard, have en-suite rooms, are biker friendly, have good parking and provide a warm welcome. Many have drying room facilities too. We stay in the same place as you, so any problems and we’re on hand to sort out. Oh and yes, hairdryers are provided.
__________________________________________
Q. How do we spend our evenings?

Well that’s entirely up to you. Most tours the group tends to eat together, then it’s a case of having a stroll, exploring the local area, enjoying a drink, or just relaxing in the hotel…whatever you feel like doing. There’s no pressure, just let us know what you want to do and we’ll help you do it.
__________________________________________
Q. Will my bike be secure?

We hope so as ours will be parked next to yours! We haven’t had any problems with security so far, but you are advised to bring a suitable bike lock just to be on the safe side.
__________________________________________
Q. What do I need to pack?

Much less than you probably think you’ll need! Wet weather gear is a must and casual wear for evenings is fine. Our ‘welcome pack’ will give you all the info you need before you join the tour.
__________________________________________
Q. How much money should I take on tour?

You need to allow for around £15 / €20 per evening for a meal, plus enough money for drinks and a light lunch (this is usually a sandwich / cake stop). You’ll also need to pay for fuel, any attractions you want to visit and other items….taking a credit / debit card is the best form of payment and is a useful back up to cover any emergencies.
__________________________________________
Q. What documents do I need?

You’ll need your licence, V5 (or bike ownership equivalent), insurance and some form of photo ID and / or passport (depending on tour destination and your Nationality). You’ll also need any travel insurance and breakdown cover documents….a full list of what you’ll need to bring is included in our 'tour welcome pack'.
__________________________________________
Q. Do I need breakdown recovery, travel insurance and personal injury insurance?

Yes, yes and yes. We recommend all three. We’ll do all we can to help you at the roadside if your bike has a problem, but you are advised to have breakdown cover and check that it does include the country you’ll be touring around. The same with travel and personal injury insurance…better to be safe than sorry!
__________________________________________
Q. What if I’m not happy about something?

Then we need to know. Speak to your guide who will do all they can to sort out the problem. If you’re still not happy, you can put in a written complaint and we’ll respond as quickly and as fairly as we can. Our success is based on your satisfaction and we take all feedback very seriously.
