Eire (Southern Ireland) 4 Days / 4 Nights Tour
Open roads and stunning scenery make this a fantastic tour!
Day One – Enniscorthy to Clonakilty (145 miles) - the first full day of the tour takes in Ireland’s picturesque southern coast. Heading West, we enjoy the first coastal views a few miles into our ride before crossing the Suir Estuary and continue to follow the coast through Annestown, Dungarvan and Youghal. With the Monavullagh Mountains in front of us we cross the Blackwater Estuary and move inland for a stretch to skirt around Cork, before we head back to the coast at Kinsale. Our last leg of the day takes us further West to our comfortable accommodation and an evening of relaxation at Clonakilty.
Day Two – Clonakilty to Killarney (155 miles) - after a good night's sleep we leave Clonakilty and push further west to Ballydehob, where we then swing North to Bantry Bay. From here the rolling hills we’ve been experiencing grow in size as we enjoy the twisty roads through the Caha Mountains to the picturesque town of Kenmare. After a stop in Kenmare, with time to stroll amongst the many shops and enjoy some lunch, we join the renowned Ring of Kerry, which offers interesting roads, charming villages and stunning views of mountain and seascapes. Our loop of The Ring of Kerry ends in Killarney, a traditional Irish town offering great food, music and stunning buildings, where we spend our third night with an opportunity to enjoy the sights Killarney offers.
Day Three – Killarney to Wexford (175 miles) - a good hearty breakfast sets us on our way through rural Ireland to the famous Blarney Castle and then on to Lismore for a lunch stop. We then take a diversion to the North through the spectacular Knockmealdown Mountains, enjoying The Vee (a twisty road with a climb offering great views). Clonmel, Carrick on Suir, Waterford and New Ross punctuate a relaxed ride through green farmland, meandering rivers and rolling hills as we push east back to Wexford for our final evening to enjoy Irish hospitality and each other's company.
Day Four – Wexford to Rosslare (12 miles) - a short ride takes us back to Rosslare for the morning ferry. Once we disembark in Fishguard it's time to say your goodbyes and make your way home after what has been (hopefully) an enjoyable and memorable 'taste of Ireland'.
* For 2011 this is a 5 day tour, with an extra night in Killarney riding the stunning Beara Peninsula and surrounding area *
